Toy Exchange

Hampshire FA's Front Lawn Community Hub to Host Toy Exchange

Save some pennies and save the planet, one plastic toy at a time.

Hampshire FA’s partnership with mental health charity, Havant and East Hants Mind led to the county FA achieving the bronze award for corporate social responsibility at the Football Business Awards this year. Hampshire FA became the first county FA ever to achieve an award at the Football Business Awards based on several initiatives and projects conducted in collaboration with the charity. The Front Lawn Community Hub was at the forefront of such an award, as the local hub specifically supported the charity’s Active Families project, which involved delivering football coaching sessions to children on the 3G pitch as well as hosting Christmas activities for the families and supplying festive food hampers.

The award itself inspired the county FA to look at its overall corporate social responsibilities and to continue making a difference to the local communities in which it serves.

As such, the Front Lawn Community Hub is expanding its CSR work by holding a drop-in Toy Exchange on Thursday 17th November from 9am – 5pm in the Technical Suite at the Front Lawn Community Hub. The Toy Exchange is free to attend and open to all members of the public. The aim is to reduce plastic waste, by helping families save money (via the toy exchange) or simply to donate any unwanted toys and books as a gesture of goodwill to help other families and charities in need.

The toy exchange invites the public to bring toys, games and/or books* to the hub on the day to exchange with a similar value to the toys, games and/or books on display. The exchanges made on the day will hope to save families some much needed funds by taking the exchanged toys as gifts for Christmas and/or giving the items another life. If members of the public would like to come along and do not have toys to exchange, donations are welcome to our Hampshire FA Community Trust or alternatively, one of our charity partners including Havant & East Hants Mind or Young Lives Vs Cancer. Donations boxes will be available on the day to support this so please bring cash with you. Toys left after the exchange will be distributed to families in need and/or local charities and set-ups in the area that can make the best use of them.

We are also able to reserve and deliver any toys to families on 15th December between 4-5pm (within a 5-mile radius of Havant) if you are without transport. Should you request this assistance, please contact Isabella Pearson.

We would like to as ever, thank our partners at Peter Cooper Motor Group, our official van suppliers, for sponsoring the Hampshire FA van. The van will enable us to transport the toys to families without transport as well as essential food hampers during the festive period.
