Hampshire FA U13's Saturday Cup Final 2020
The first of the Hampshire Football Association's youth cup finals of last season took place at the County's Stoneham complex, a few month's late due to COVID-19, but despite all the difficulties the game was played.
The first twenty or so minutes saw an evenly match end to end battle but gradually Bracknell pushed Romsey deeper into defence thus preventing them making chances up front whilst their own forwards were carving openings. The first chance fell to Nathan Bond but his shot was wide. Romsey hit back and Bracknell's 'keeper Kai Jones saved well from Oscar McCulloch.
It was twenty minutes until one of the side's won a corner, which fell to Bracknell but the kick was well cleared by the Romsey defence. A good run by Bracknell's Sam Britten forced a diving save by Kai Harris.
The first half ended with Romsey under pressure but they defended well.
Early in the second half Britten and David Garlinge both had good shots saved by Romsey's Harris but Bracknell were gifted the opening goal in the 46th minute when a poor clearance fell to Esat Polat who had the easy chance to put the ball into the net.
Bracknell's second goal came a few minutes later when Garlinge converted a cross from the right and the game was as good as won when Harry Dutson scored in the 68th minute. A fabulous penalty save by Harris prevented Markus Reisi increasing the score almost at the final whistle.
The Player of the Match Award was given to Bracknell's Louis Nualart.
The match was sponsored by Savvy Accountancy Solutions and the Referee was Billy Chafe with Assistant Referees Jack Gaffney and Sam Booth.
