Guidance regarding club insurance requirements
What is the National Game Insurance Scheme (NGIS)?
In 2011, The FA set out to raise the standards of insurances that could be made available to its affiliated members, to enable access to a uniformity of cover across the grassroots game that hadn’t been seen before.
The overarching objective for the NGIS has been to ensure that insurance products, specifically tailored to the needs of grassroots football, could be made available to all. In 2012, Bluefin Sport was appointed by The FA to deliver the NGIS.
The NGIS provides two core covers – Public Liability and Personal Accident.
It is compulsory for all affiliated clubs to have public liability insurance and all affiliated teams to have personal accident insurance.
When affiliating to Hampshire FA via the Whole Game System, Clubs may choose to opt-in to the NGIS public liability insurance.
Personal accident insurance can be purchased from Bluefin Sport online, or by completing an application form and returning it to them in the post, with a cheque in remittance of the premium payable.
Details of the minimum cover required by Hampshire FA can be found on the Bluefin Sport website, please click here.
Clubs have the option to purchase the compulsory insurances either via the NGIS or elsewhere. Other products are available and independent advice can be sourced from a licensed insurance broker.
How can I find out more about the NGIS?

1. Instant quotations with cover starting from 1 July 2016;
2. Automatic notification to the County FA confirming cover has been purchased
3. Pay your premium on-line by debit or credit card or;
4. Pay by 5 monthly instalments if your premium is £100 or more (see website for details of charges)
5. Ability to download policy documentation and also delivery of policy documents by email.
To apply for cover please click here (which will take you to the NGIS website). Alternatively, you can apply by post by completing the application form which you will find at the back of the Group Personal Accident brochure. The completed application form should be returned to Bluefin Sport together with a cheque made payable to 'Bluefin Insurance Services.'
Please note if you make a postal application, a £5.00 administration fee is payable on top of the premium. If you purchase your cover online, you will be able to download your policy documents from Bluefin Sport’s website. We recommend saving the PDF attachment to your computer - you will also receive an email attaching your policy documents. Included within the policy documents pack is a poster which can be displayed at your clubs premises so players are aware of the cover in place.
When you affiliate through Whole Game System, you will need to provide evidence of personal accident insurance for Adult 11-a-side teams and Youth teams. You will be prompted to upload your clubs personal accident policy documents through Whole Game System, which you can do from your computer as you will have saved the policy documents in PDF format when you purchased your insurance. Please note that checks will be made to ensure that you have purchased the correct cover and that cover is in force for the whole of Season 2017/18.
Legal Liabilities (including Public Liability) The County Cover Scheme is available to affiliated clubs, leagues and match officials affiliated to the Association. Cover is arranged by the association as a group policy, so premiums are more affordable. This allows you to purchase the cover at a much cheaper premium, whilst you also benefit from the wider cover of a policy that has been designed specifically with grassroots football in mind. Five elements of cover in one unique package

There are two types of insurance policies required for the 2020/21 season.
A) Personal accident insurance - this provides protection for someone who is injured in an accident whilst participating in a club activity. This policy could provide either a lump sum benefit or weekly amount (dependent on the cover selected).
B) Legal liability insurance - this provides protection against any claims made by third parties against you e.g. claims for slips and trips or damage to third party property as a result of your negligence.
Countycover is arranged by the county FA as a group policy which allows you to purchase the cover at a cost effective premium, whilst also benefiting from a wide cover designed for grassroots football. This cover is purchased when you affiliate to Hampshire FA and the premium is collected together with your affiliation fees. (this includes affiliation via The FAs Whole Game System where applicable) Once the premium has been received, and your affiliation has been accepted, you will be sent an ‘Evidence of Cover’ from Hampshire FA.
