Guidance regarding club insurance requirements

We are teamed with award-winning, national provider of insurance and risk management solutions to the world of sport, bluefin sport.

Our appointed insurance broker Bluefin Sport (also the National Game Insurance Broker) provides clubs, teams, leagues and match officials with robust and competitive insurance products, specifically tailored to the needs of grassroots football. In order to affiliate to Hampshire FA through the Whole Game System, clubs will need to purchase Personal Accident and Legal Liability insurance.

Hampshire FA is an introducer appointed representative of Bluefin Insurance Services Ltd registered in England & Wales (No: 00931954) at: 1 Tower Place West, Tower Place, London EC3R 5BU. Bluefin Insurance Services Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Personal Accident

This insurance can pay out a set amount if someone is injured in an accident and the pay out can be a lump sum or a weekly amount (depending on the level of cover you choose). It ensures all participants have protection in the event of an injury and because this is a 'non negligence' cover it can help reduce litigation in the game, because unlike a liability policy you do not have to find someone at fault for an injury to receive compensation.

There are two types of insurance policies required for the 2020/21 season.

A) Personal accident insurance - this provides protection for someone who is injured in an accident whilst participating in a club activity. This policy could provide either a lump sum benefit or weekly amount (dependent on the cover selected).

B) Legal liability insurance - this provides protection against any claims made by third parties against you e.g. claims for slips and trips or damage to third party property as a result of your negligence.

Countycover is arranged by the county FA as a group policy which allows you to purchase the cover at a cost effective premium, whilst also benefiting from a wide cover designed for grassroots football. This cover is purchased when you affiliate to Hampshire FA and the premium is collected together with your affiliation fees. (this includes affiliation via The FAs Whole Game System where applicable) Once the premium has been received, and your affiliation has been accepted, you will be sent an ‘Evidence of Cover’ from Hampshire FA.
