The Hampshire FA Academy is running its first ever female-specific opening evening

Ahead of welcoming female students in September 2022, the Hampshire FA Football Academy is inviting female school leavers (current Year 11’s) to attend an upcoming open evening specifically for females.

📅 Tuesday 15th February 2022
🕖 7-9PM
🏟 Stoneham Lane Football Complex, Eastleigh

The Hampshire FA Football Academy launched in September 2021 and currently provides over 30 students aged 16 to 18 with the opportunity to combine football development with an education in sport and a well-rounded practical experience of the sports industry.

Following a highly successful launch, the programme is attracting a great number of applications to join the programme in the new academic year, starting September 2022, with plans to create a female-specific team next season.

To celebrate this exciting next step for the academy, we are inviting prospective female students to attend a female-specific open evening. The open evening will take place Tuesday 15th February 2022, 7-9PM at Stoneham Lane Football Complex and will be split into two halves, starting with a presentation and Q&A, followed by a practical session.

To attend, you must pre-register your attendance by emailing: Chris.Smith@HampshireFA.com

Hampshire FA’s Football Development Manager, Chris Smith, said: “This is a really exciting time for the academy. Our first-year students are thoroughly enjoying the programme and the opportunities that it gives them to combine their passion for football with an exceptional educational setup that can prepare them for a future career in the sports industry. We’re currently supporting students with aspirations to build careers as players, physios, marketing professionals, journalists, facility managers and more.”

“Our programme can enable all to thrive and achieve their personal, sporting, educational and professional goals. We’re delighted to be welcoming female students to join the programme and take the next step towards a future career in sport.”

The upcoming open evening is the ideal opportunity for the prospective students to not only find out everything they need to know about the academy programme, but also quiz our female staff members, who will be present, providing insights into their background and experiences, ranging from playing and coaching, to marketing and media within the football industry.

Hampshire FA’s Women and Girls Football Development Officer, Flo Lunn, said: “I would encourage any girls with a passion for football to come to the open evening on the 15th February and consider joining this programme. This academy can provide exceptional football opportunities at a top-class facility, while learning, developing and building a pathway to a future career doing something you love.

“The popularity of women’s and girl’s football is growing rapidly and this year’s UEFA Women’s EURO tournament taking place in England, with Southampton as a host city, is only expected to accelerate this growth. The legacy programme from this tournament is going to further increase the opportunities available for girls and women to get involved in football, in both a professional and non-professional capacity, as players, coaches, referees and more. The timing couldn’t be better to consider a career in sport.”
