Hampshire FA Saturday Plate Final 2022 Match Report

Renegades 0  Whiteley Wanderers Eagles 2

The final was held at Stoneham Lane Football Complex, Eastleigh, on 23rd April 2021. A minute's silence was observed in memory of the President of the Hampshire Football Association, Robin Osborne, who had passed away recently.

The Renegades started the strongest and early in the match Mark Horton hit the Eagles' crossbar with 'keeper' Kieron Pearson stranded. A few minutes later Ashley Ashwood put in a good shot, which was well saved.

Renegades dominated play during the first half but went in at half time one-down. In the first minute of added time the Eagles' Jacob Lee converted a through ball which hit the post then rebounded over the line.

Early in the second half, Renegades came close when Michael Morey put in a good run but Kaiden Wright managed a shot-stopping tackle. A little later he headed home but was flagged offside.

In the 64th minute, Will Bell bundled in a rebound off the 'keeper to ensure the Eagles flew away with the cup.

The Referee was Charlie Hardingham and he was assisted by Ryan Thomas and Hassan Rajwani. The Fourth Official was Dan Batchelor.

The match was sponsored by Horris Hill School. The Player of the Match Award went to the Eagles' number 46 Jacob Lee.
