Oakwood Youth 3 - Pompey in the Community 1

A game of two halves

This was a closer game than the scoreline indicates, although Oakwood raced into the lead, Pompey hit back and Oakwood have much to thank their goalkeeper, Finley Totten, for with several good saves. 

 

Oakwood took the lead in the 8th minute when Lenny Lowry slammed in a free kick which took a small deflection off a Pompey player wrong-footing 'keeper Aaron Pullin.

 

Bad luck struck Pompey again in the 24th minute when a cross came which Jesse Paine in his attempt to clear, headed past his own 'keeper to put Oakwood two-up.

 

Oakwood continued to press and another cross from the flank put them further in the lead as Joseph Ryan connected sending the ball in just under the bar. 

 

The second half proved better for Pompey and they pulled a goal back in the 50th minute when Dan Aitken floated a free kick over the 'keeper. This goal was gave Pompey the boost they needed and for a period they pressed Oakwood back but good defending by thwarted him.

 

Pompey came near to scoring again when Ethan Quinlan forced a tremendous save from Finely Totten.

 

The Player of the Match Award went to Oakwood's Connor Underhill.

 

The match was well officiated by Referee Jacob Simpson and his Assistants Sam Rowell and Carl Pearson. The Fourth Official was Callum Allen.
