Hampshire FA Sunday Trophy Final

John Moody
Fareham United 1 - North End Cosmos 0

Although this was a low scoring final, there were many goal chances created from both teams but neither possessed the striking power on the night to clinch the match until the last few minutes.

An early chance fell to North End's Luke Madgwick who put a long shot over the bar and as far as pressure, the first half belonged to North End. In one attack, a free kick from Russell Stanley forced a save from 'keeper Harry Unwin but the ball was not cleared and he made three more saves within about 30 seconds but it was punted upfield.

A good run by Fareham's Adan Clarke sent Daniel Bennett away but his shot was just wide and just before half time Jamie Hendrick hit the post.

Fareham started the second half on the attack and a long shot by Sam Jacobs went just wide but North End hit back and Russell Stanley lobbed the ball into the box forcing 'keeper Unwin into a good save. It looked as if Bennett had scored a few minutes later but his shot hit the North End bar.

The winner came in the 85th minute when Danny Knee converted a cross from Bennett to take the cup back to Fareham.

The match was sponsored by Child Trophies LTD.

The Referee was Tom Coppin and his Assistants were Liam Twigg and Andrew Walker. The Fourth Official was Garry Hodgkinson.

The Player of the Match Award went to Fareham's Danny Knee.
