Futsal is an exciting, fast-paced small sided football game that is widely played across the world and is officially recognised by both UEFA and FIFA. Find out how YOU can get involved in Futsal in Hampshire.

Futsal was important in helping to develop my ball control, quick thinking, passing… also for dribbling, balance, concentration… Futsal was very, very important, no doubt.”  (Pele, World Cup Winner: 1958, 1962 & 1970)

The nature of the game places a large emphasis on technical skill and ability in situations of high pressure, and is subsequently an excellent breeding ground for football competencies that can be translated into the 11-a-side format of the game. Click here for more details.

Many of the top world class footballers played Futsal in their youth and credit it with supporting their footballing development, as Brazilian stars Neymar and Hulk explain here

The Hampshire FA Futsal Centre opened it's doors on 1st December 2014, attracting 15 participants to it's first Recreational Hub in Southampton. The launch session attracted a range of players, males and females, with varying levels of futsal knowledge and experience. One thing they all had in common though was a desire to learn more and develop their skills through this increasingly popular and highly energetic format of 5-a-side football.

The Hampshire FA Futsal Centre has been established to promote awareness and development of the sport for adult participants across the county. The centre was developed through a joint partnership between Hampshire FA and Southampton Solent University aiming to drive up the quantity and quality of futsal provision for adults within the county.

The Hampshire FA Futsal Centre incorporates a number of Recreational Futsal Hub sessions at various locations across the county.

The sessions are a great opportunity for players to come along and have a go in an informal but supportive environment, and to simply enjoy learning and playing the sport. The great thing about the recreational hubs is that there’s no commitment necessary, you can simply come down on your own or with a group of mates, and just see what it’s all about.

For those who are ready for more formal competition countywide leagues and tournaments will be held, providing an opportunity for participants to play fixtures against attendees at other Recreational Futsal Hubs.

The Hampshire Futsal Working Group was established in October 2014 as a means for providers of futsal activity at all ages and age groups to meet, discuss and action the development of a co-ordinated approach to the development of the sport across the county.

Key priorities currently include:

Maintenance of a database of futsal provision to identify gaps and working together to remedy

Sharing and editing of maps data on a regular basis

Planning of interhub league fixtures and the Hampshire Futsal League for adult participants
