Hampshire FA has a dedicated Disability Football Development Officer specifically focusing on disability football within Hampshire.
The DWF has seen the creation of a network of 29 disability-specific football development officers, each with a remit of retaining and growing participation levels. Over the next three years (2016 to 2019), DWF will see team numbers reach over 2600; 1000 recreational turn-up-and-play centres will be created; and 145 disability football education courses will be delivered to over 2300 coaches. A key priority for disability football is to increase the number of community based youth teams.
One of the most recent outcomes since having a Disability Development Officer on board is the Blind Football sessions which have started in partnership with Losing My Sight Magazine, Hampshire FA's Media Partners. Sam Waddington, a student from the University of Winchester applied to undertake a Hampshire FA Media Project to show the impact of the sessions on blind football players.
