Volunteering in the football community doesn’t need to involve lacing up your boots and getting stuck in during a match. You may enjoy watching the beautiful game, or alternatively you could have an interest in the game organically growing using your impressive skills.

Stepping Over the Sidelines are free workshops aimed at women and girls of all ages, minimum 18+, and backgrounds who would like to get into coaching and volunteering within football.

This programme is designed to allow women with transferrable skills and expertise from other backgrounds to inspire change within the youth game. Your personal experiences externally from football may well be the advice our girls’ youth team needs to push their development and accelerate a positively influential change within the game.

There’s no pressure. You don’t need to be an expert in the field to help build confidence in the girls’ youth teams, your further knowledge can help their growth through coaching.

The workshop will take place on Sunday 17th March between 10am – 1pm at Thornden School (SO53 2DW) and will be delivered by Sarah Wiggins (FA Women & Girls Champion) and Wai Wan (first British born Hong Kong female to obtain the UEFA B football coach license).

"We hope to encourage and support women from different backgrounds to explore opportunities to get involved in grassroots football. The event is aimed to provide participants with the knowledge and tools to feel confident about getting involved in the game - on or off the pitch"

- Wai Wan, UEFA C Coach Developer
