New Football Complex Scores Highly

Portsmouth City Council
King George V (KGV) Football Complex in Cosham is now open for use.

Local football clubs including Fleur De Lys, Meon Milton, and City Ladies, have been settling into the site and making use of the new pitches and facilities.

The newly developed site is operated by Hampshire FA and boasts one standard size 11v11 3G pitch and one supersize 11v11 3G pitch that can offer a variety of games including 5-a-side, 7-a-side, 9-a-side, and full pitch games, and tailor to training sessions for all ages. There are also pay and play options available for those who just want to have a casual kick around on the 3G pitches at off peak times. Grass pitches will be available to hire from next season.

The new pavilion is available to the community offering a café, social meeting space, outdoor seating, and a 'Changing Places' toilet for people limited in their mobility who may need additional equipment or space for carers.

Leader of the council with responsibility for leisure, Councillor Steve Pitt, said: "We're committed to supporting and encouraging healthy lifestyles in all our communities and we are pleased to see local teams and the public starting to take advantage of the new football complex. It's a great place for all to enjoy, I'd encourage anyone local to pop by and take a look".

KGV Football Complex also received levelling-up funding from the government towards the new facilities as part of the Hilsea Lines project. Additionally, there was also funding from the Youth Investment Fund (YIF) to create a visitor attraction that ensures young people in our local area have access to regular out of school activities, whilst promoting health and wellbeing opportunities for all to enjoy.
