Groundsman of the Year 2020

Hampshire FA are delighted to once again support the honour for ‘Groundsman of the Year’ at our annual Grassroots Awards this July

Nominations taken from clubs at step 7 or below

Hampshire FA are delighted to once again support the honour for ‘Groundsman of the Year’ at our annual Grassroots Awards this July.

This award is open to any groundsmen that take care of pitches for clubs at step 7 or below in the football pyramid – separate awards are available for groundsmen higher in the football pyramid, the nominations for these awards will come from leagues rather than clubs.

The awards were originally set up to celebrate the unsung heroes of grassroots football. Battling through extreme weather conditions all-year round, groundsmen up and down the country ensure that pitches are in the best possible condition to facilitate matches for around 90,000 teams.

Does your clubs groundsman deserve special recognition?

If the answer is yes (and your club is at step 7 or below) please email: Sacha Nicholas with the following details:

·      Name of groundsman

·      Name and address of your club

·      Contact details for the nominated groundsman

·      Reasons why you have nominated this groundsman

·      Pictures of the pitch

·      Contact details for your club secretary

Following nominations, clubs will be shortlisted and visited by the judging panel who will assess each nominee by a set of criteria, taking into account the club’s resources, equipment, budget, pitch usage and unique challenges.

The first ranked Hampshire FA groundsman will be put forward to the national judging stage whereby they will undergo independent adjudication.

Courtesy of our partners Fleet Line Markers UK, nominated groundsmen also have the opportunity to win some exciting prizes. Prizes in the past have included line markers and drums of Super C paint.

Closing date for nominations is 10th February 2020.
