SATURDAY UNDER 18 GIRLS FINAL - Match Report

John Moody
Played at Havant and Waterlooville FC on 1st April 2023.

Full Time

Eastleigh ITC FC Under 18 Women 1 - 6 AFC Stoneham Youth Under 18 Girls.

Eastleigh started the first of the Hampshire Football Association's many 2022/2023 cup finals as cup holders but unfortunately for them their fellow finalists AFC Stoneham dominated a rain-drenched game.

It took AFC Stoneham only 13 minutes to open the scoring when Dakota Enikova pushed the ball over the line from close range and from that point they dominated play. Eastleigh only really created one chance in the first half when Charli Wright blazed high and wide with only 'keeper Hollie Keefe to beat.

Stoneham went further ahead in the 26th minute when Darcey Maxted beat 'keeper Morgan Durrans with a shot which took a wicked deflection. A few minutes later she nearly scored again but was just wide.

She did score again in the 33rd minute however, when Stoneham were awarded a penalty and she slammed the spot kick home.

Three-up Stoneham put on the pressure calling on Durrans to make two very good saves.

Eastleigh started the second half on the attack and Caitlyn White forced Keefe into a vital save but their surge did not last and in the 55th minute Maxted headed her hat-trick. From this point Stoneham took over the game and in the 61st minute Maxted again found the net with a deflected shot.

Goal number six came in the 67th minute when Mia Delaney, after a long run, zoomed the ball over the advancing goalkeeper.

Eastleigh netted a consolation in the 90th minute when they were awarded a penalty which Lily Ingram slotted home.
