COURSE DETAILS

The FA Level 3 (UEFA B) in Coaching Football will help you develop your players by designing practices that encourage decision-making, while meeting their technical, tactical, physical, psychological and social needs.

Football is filled with complex decision-making scenarios, so designing relevant game-like practices with plenty of decision-making opportunities is crucial. They ensure that players are able to practice and prepare for competition.

This internationally recognised qualification will develop your ability to look at the players you work with and explore how you can help develop them by designing practices that encourage decision-making, while meeting their technical, tactical, physical, psychological and social needs.

It will help you understand the demands of the game and how to meet the needs of players as they build a deeper understanding of their various roles and responsibilities within the team.

The course of learning is made up of 18 guided learning, face-to-face workshops covering a range of topics linked to the England DNA, split into four blocks of learning, that cover the areas of How We Play, The Future Player, How We Coach and How We Support.

You will also receive three support visits in between the blocks of learning to develop you in your own coaching environment.

HAMPSHIRE FA COURSE update

Application process

Applications for this season (2019/20) are closed and 24 learners have been accepted onto the course that starts in April 2020. The courses started slightly later this year due to changes made by The FA. More information on this can be found here.

Those coaches wishing to apply for this course will need to wait until our applications for Season 2020/21 open (date TBC). We are currently waiting for an update from FA Education with specific time frames for when we can start our applications for season 20/21. As soon as we know this we will update all HFACC Members and the website.

To receive updates on the applications for season 2020/21, please sign up to the Hampshire FA Coaches Community (HFACC) here.

Hampshire FA's shortlisting process

For season 2020/21, Hampshire FA will be adopting a 3 stage process which consists of the following*:

Stage 1: Selection criteria - only those coaches who meet the above selection criteria will be shortlisted to stage 2.

Stage 2: Video task - those coaches who meet the selection criteria will be tasked to complete a short video of them coaching. The specific details for this task will be communicated to all shortlisted coaches.

Stage 3: UEFA B insight day - this stage is new for season 2020/21 and will involve all shortlisted coaches from the video task stage to be invited to a central venue (Hampshire FA Hub Site) to take part in a course insight day and 1-to-1 interview with the FA course tutors. Again, all relevant information will be communicated to those coaches who are successful in making it to stage 3 of the shortlisting process.

Top Tips:

  • Read the Selection Criteria and course pre-requisites above
  • Start to gather video footage of you coaching your team(s) in preparation for stage 2. Please ensure all media consent is approved by your club before you start collecting video footage
  • Attend formal and informal CPD events (doesn't have to just be L2-3 bridging events)
  • Become a member of the Hampshire FA Coaches Community to keep up to date with relevant information regarding the course
  • Network with coaches who have completed their UEFA B, see if the course is right for you - a great opportunity to do this is on any of our CPD events!

*This process is subject to change due to course updates - any changes will be posted here on our website page.

Level 2-3 CPD events

We are aware of the demand for these events and will notify all HFACC members (Level 2 coaches only) once new events like these are confirmed and ready to book online.

FAQS

In the event of over subscription for course registration, learners will be selected based on both the qualifications they currently hold and the format of the game they are currently working in. Selection will be based on the following order for active coaches working with Hampshire based clubs:

All must hold the FA Level 2 in Coaching Football

1. Working in the adult/youth 11v11 game with an FA Youth Award
2. Working in the adult/youth 11v11 game with an FA Youth Award Module 3
3. Working in the adult/youth 11v11 game with additional learning
4. Working in the youth 9v9 game with an FA Youth Award
5. Working in the youth 9v9 game with an FA Youth Award Module 3
6. Working in the youth 9v9 game with additional learning
7. Working in the youth 7v7 game with an FA Youth Award
8. Working in the youth 7v7 game with an FA Youth Award Module 3
9. Working in the youth 7v7 game with additional learning

For those coaches who are shortlisted to the Video Task (second stage), you are required to submit a video of you within your coaching environment (exact specifications to be confirmed to those shortlisted). Therefore we advice those who are looking to apply for the UEFA B course season 2020/2021 to start to gather video footage of them coaching within their club both at training and match-day.

Yes, Hampshire FA will only be considering applications for coaches who are actively coaching within Hampshire. The selection criteria above still applies.

No one is guaranteed a space on the course. We have over 200 applicants each year to fill a course of 24 learners, therefore all applications will be considered through the shortlisting processes we have in place.

We will only consider those applications who are able to attend ALL days of the course.

Due to the duration of the course (9-12 months), we will only be running 1 course per season.

If you apply more than once we will only consider your first application. Any additional applications after this will not be considered. Therefore, please only complete one application per person.
