All Referees wishing to be considered for Promotion during the 2013-14 season must convey their request in writing to the Referee Development Manager during the period 1st January 2013 – 1st March 2013. Any application received after this date will not be accepted.

All promotion candidates will be expected to meet the following criteria: 

Level 7 – 6 

  • Attend a recognised  In Service Training Seminar
  • To pass a multiple choice written examination in the Laws of the Game
  • To Referee a minimum of 20 matches during the promotion season
  • To have been assessed on at least 3 occasions

 Level 6 – 5

 All of the above plus:

  • To be an Assistant Referee on a minimum of 5 matches at Senior Level during the promotion season

 Level 5 – 4

  • To pass a Fitness Assessment
  • To Referee a minimum of 15 matches on allocated leagues during the promotion season
  • To be an Assistant Referee on a minimum of 5 matches at Senior Level during the promotion season
  • To attend a recognised In Service Training Seminar
  • To have been assessed on at least 5 occasions
  • Complete an Examination in the Laws of the Game (dates and location tbc) New for 2012/13 season
  • Must attend one of a possible 9 Regional In Service Nomination Training Sessions, delivered by the FA (dates and location tbc) New for 2012/13 season

 In addition to the above, promotion applicants must:

  • Respond to all correspondence in writing
  • Provide written assurances regarding availability to the County and Referee Appointment Secretaries
  • Maintain a record of all matches, whether as Referee or Assistant Referee
  • Be proficient in completion of Misconduct Report Writing and attend Disciplinary Hearings as required
  • Not be a season ticket holder at a professional football club
