Hampshire FA Youth Network appoints Independent Chairperson

Six further voluntary positions are open for applications to join the HFA Youth Network for 2022 – 2024.

The Hampshire FA Youth Network is a group of young people who inspire and create positive change within the Hampshire FA Youth Engagement Strategy, all while working alongside FA members of staff.

The Youth Engagement Strategy supports Hampshire FA with the growth of youth participation in the game; provides a voice for young people in the sport; runs events and initiatives to encourage youth leaders; and enhances the football workforce by upskilling young people.

As part of our phase one recruitment process, Hampshire FA are delighted to announce the appointment of an Independent Chair – Mali.

When asked about himself, the role and what he’s looking forward to the most, Mali said: “I am an avid football coach keen to make a difference to the community around me through football and mentoring. I am most looking forward to mentoring and guiding young people whilst seeing them develop in areas they are passionate about.”

Welcoming Mali to the Youth Network team, Hampshire FA Coaching & Workforce Football Development Officer, Jake Ashton said: “I’m excited to introduce and explore our newly formatted Youth Network. Working alongside Mali, we will look to support and develop the new cohort of members whilst positively impacting grassroots football.”

Discussing the Youth Network, Hampshire FA CEO, Neil Cassar, said: "We recognise the need to engage with young people and involve their thinking in our decision-making processes. This represents a key priority for Hampshire FA over the next 12 months as we launch our new youth engagement strategy. We very much look forward to establishing our new youth network and having talented young people contributing to the development of football in Hampshire in the future”.
