Hampshire FA Saturday Vase Final

John Moody
Harvest Home 4 - FC Strawberry 1

Front Lawn witnessed its first Hampshire FA Vase final which saw a close fought game with the score not truly reflecting the difference between the sides, but the Home certainly harvested the Strawberries!

Harvest Home started strongly and took the lead in the 12th minute when Nathen Nethor wrong-footed 'keeper Keven Dixey with a powerful shot across the front of goal. Dixey, did however, make a good save from the next shot by Remi Cake. He also made another save with his feet, this time, from Jake Daniel as Harvest Home pushed.

Strawberry fought back and Connor Mansfield put in a cross which Alex Gauntly put over the bar and, for a period, they gave Harvest Home some problems at the back but good defending pulled them through.

Just before half time Harvest Home increased their lead when Nethor picked up a long ball, ran on and slammed into the net.

Harvest Home also started the second half strongly and a good run by Charlie Deluchi result in a corner which was cleared and Dexey made a good save from a free kick but the pressure paid and Cake met a cross and netted from close range to increase their lead in the 71st minute.

In the 84th minute Daniel clinched the cup finishing a good two-man move for Harvest Home’s fourth goal.

Strawberry led by their skipper Brett Lloyd sought a consolation goal and right on time they were rewarded when he netted from close range.

The match was sponsored by Child Trophies Ltd.

The Referee was Justin Leonard and his Assistants were Mike Paten and Harry Waldon. The Fourth Official was Steve Janus.

The Player of the Match Award went to Remi Cake of Harvest Home.
