Derek Harris received the FA Long Service Award (50 Years)

He was presented his award at the Southampton Divisional FA Senior Cup Semi Final match

A massive well done to Derek Harris for receving the FA Long Service Award (50 Years) which was presented at the Southampton Divisional FA Senior Cup Semi Final match at AFC Totton between Blackfield & Langley and Bashley (Blackfield won 3-0) 

Derek Harris started refereeing in the late 1950's and became a class 3 referee within the Southampton area. He achieved class 1 referee status and refereed in the Hampshire League.

 

In the late 1960's Derek became involved with Southampton Tyro Youth Football League and become the ‘Fixtures & Referees’ Secretary, a position he held and worked for many years. He witnessed local players who went on to become professional footballers such as Graham Roberts, Darren Anderton, Steve Moran and Paul Rideout.

 

During the late 1980's, Derek became involved with the Hampshire Youth FA as the Secretary in a voluntary capacity up until it was incorporated with Hampshire FA in July 2000.

 

Derek was a Life Vice President of Hampshire FA (now an Honorary Life Member) and received the Hampshire FA 25 Years Service Award in 2014.
