Specsavers Kicks Off Hampshire FA Sponsorship

Specsavers stores across Hampshire have signed a sponsorship deal with the Hampshire FA to help grow grassroots football in each of their communities.

Pitch perfect

The sponsorship will see the opticians, audiology and home-visiting opticians businesses provide support to football matches and events taking place across Hampshire and the Sussex borders. This will include assistance and investment in junior teams, disability football matches and walking football teams, among other activity.

The Hampshire FA is one of the largest county football associations in the country with over 5,000 teams and 50,000 players from all ages competing in local matches every week. The organisation also provides extensive coaching and education programmes helping to develop the next generation of players, coaches and referees.

Growing the game

Neil Cassar, Hampshire FA Chief Executive, says: ‘We are thrilled to announce a partnership with Specsavers, working with their businesses within the Southampton and Portsmouth areas as well as those in North Hampshire and the Hampshire/Sussex borders.

‘Specsavers has continuously maintained a prominent position throughout the years in our communities. Each store is part-owned and managed by its own joint venture partners. Together, the Hampshire store directors are providing us with the necessary investment to support a number of grassroots programmes, activities and initiatives. These include walking football, disability football and our Fair Play and Respect awards.

‘We are delighted to have Specsavers support and look forward to a long-term and positive working partnership which will help sustain, promote and develop the grassroots game in Hampshire.’
