Equality FC Programme To Relaunch At Southampton Goals

Isabella Pearson
The Equality FC programme aims to provide football provision for disadvantaged groups and/or homeless organisations in the Hampshire county.

The programme invites organisations to register teams of players to partake in monthly 5-a-side football fixtures in a league format, operating across 6 dates within the 2018/19 season. Last season saw a total of 6 teams partake in the league with teams coming from Basingstoke, Portsmouth and Southampton. Due to the success of the league, the Hampshire FA Community Trust (which supports disability football, inclusion and cohesion and community coaching) has heavily invested in the programme to see its continuation into the 2018/19 season.

All fixtures take place at a central venue (Southampton Goals, Millbrook Point Road, Southampton SO15 0JZ) with Hampshire FA overseeing the league and all requirements including providing all equipment, creation of fixtures, updating of results and the general organisation of the league itself. Additionally, entry into the league is free of charge for teams in the 2018/19 season.

The dates for the fixtures are set below:

Wednesday 26th Sep
Wednesday 31st Oct
Wednesday 28th Nov
Wednesday 30th Jan
Wednesday 27th Feb
Wednesday 27th Mar (presentation event)

At the end of the season, teams will be invited to an end-of-season awards event with food also provided for the teams as an enjoyable conclusion to hopefully another successful season. Additionally, a Fair Play award will also be introduced for the 2018/19 season to furthermore encourage positive behaviour and conduct on and off the pitch.

For teams interested in partaking in the league, please contact the Recreational Football Development Officer, Jake Ashton: Jake.Ashton@HampshireFA.com. Please note even if you do not have enough players to field a team but are still interested, to please get in contact and Hampshire FA will be able to assist with this.

The deadline for entries is Wednesday 5th September 2018 at 12pm.
