Please find below some details of some major forthcoming U Support events going into 2014. If you would like to be involved in any of these, please do not hesitate to let me know.
1. Ribs – this is a treasure hunt which will take place on 26th February 2014 in the Solent. Meeting at approximately 10.00am, teams of 8 people will go on board the RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats) with a skipper and take part in a Treasure Hunt across the Solent. They will return to Lymington at about 2.00pm / 2.30pm for a lunch before awards being presented and closing at 4.00pm. Costs are £80 per person (minimum sponsorship or per person cost if corporates would like to purchase a boat or places on a boat).
2. Regatta – this will take place on Wednesday May 14th 2014 and will involve a fleet of 52’ ocean racing yachts taking to the Solent for a great day of fun. The day will begin with breakfast rolls at about 0900, then an introduction to the boat and training / induction session of the crew. This will be followed by a series of 3 races (2 x 45 minutes and 1 x 60 minutes) and including a mooring for lunch. Upon completion of the racing (approx. 4.30pm) boats will return to Lymington for a BBQ of steak and scallops and the award ceremony. Individuals taking part are asked to raise a minimum of £250 through sponsorship, with anything above £400 then being donated to a charity of their own choice (for example, someone raising £600, U Support receive £400 including the costs of the event, and their own charity receives £200). Corporates can also purchase a boat at a minimum donation of £2,500 for a crew of ten. We are hoping that we will not only have upwards of 10 boats taking part in the regatta, but that we will also have sub-categories of businesses participating so that we can have prizes for top solicitor, top accountant, top bank etc…..
3. Downton Abbey Lunch – this is taking place on November 28th 2013 with U Support being a co-nominated charity by organisers Sainsbury’s at Farlington. Billed as a Ladies Lunch (although open to all of course!!), this event will provide high class shopping in preparation for Christmas prior to the event, followed by a 2 course dinner and a talk by Jessica Fellowes, niece of Downton Abbey’s creator (Lord Julian Fellowes) and herself author of the best-selling accompanying Downton Abbey series books. Tickets for this unique lunchtime event are just £40 per person, and more information can be found on the poster attached below.
