The girls have been the most successful of our county sides in season 2008/09, being undefeated in their four group games in the South West Counties Competition.
In mid-January 2009, Hampshire FA visited Gloucestershire FA at Almondsbury where a much improved home side built up an early lead with 2 goals after 38 minutes. Hampshire did very well to fight back and goals from Becky Miles and a header by Polly Wardle eventually gave them a share of the points.
The return fixture against Gloucestershire at Andover New Street played in early March was a nail biting occasion as the winners would also become winners of the group A competition.
After a strong, competitive game, the 2 – 1 result gave Hampshire FA the top spot in their group and led them to the final at Winklebury Football Complex to take on Devon FA, winners of group B.
Unfortunately, although the first half was quite even, the girls struggled against a deserving Devon side in the second half and lost the final by 4 goals to 1.
