A well-run club should feature the backroom staff of a Fixtures Secretary, fundraisers, a welfare/child protection officer and a Chairperson to oversee the club’s constitution, as well as the frontline first aiders to act as physios and team coaches.
The FA recognises the value of volunteers and provides guides to clubs on how to recruit, retain and reward volunteers.
Are you interested in volunteering in football events to support your sports CV?
Hampshire FA is holding a number of events in which support and volunteers are required. Please see the poster on the right hand side for further details on specific events and dates.
Do you currently have Young Leaders working within your club?
Young Leaders that aspire to be managers, coaches and administrators are the future workforce of grassroots football.
Hampshire FA sees the development of young leaders within the county as a key part of the national game strategy and are committed to producing a wide reaching young leadership programme.
The FA Step into Sport programme targets young people aged 14-19 who volunteer within the football environment. The programme offers reward and recognition for the work that they do, with certificates being awarded for completion of 10, 25 and 50 hours volunteering.
Through County FAs the programme also looks to provide support and guidance to young leaders to help them develop and progress within the game. Each year Hampshire FA run a County Leadership Camp where young leaders are offered the opportunity to interact and learn from respected figures within the game as well as likeminded people of their own age during a range of theory and practical workshops.
The Camp is also used to select two outstanding leaders who are invited to attend the National Camp along with 100 of the country’s best, where they could earn a place on a ‘changing lives’ trip to Africa with The FA.
Registered Young Leaders are also entitled to free membership with the Hampshire FA Coaches Association through which they will get the opportunity to attend a number of in-service training workshops across the course of the season free-of-charge.
Hampshire FA would appreciate it if you could make us aware of any young leaders within your club so that we might offer them, through you, the opportunity to get involved within the programme and take advantage of the benefits that it brings. The experience they gain will be mutually beneficial for both club and leader as they will put the skills they learn into practice within the club, and the programme will help you to attract and recruit more young volunteers in the future.
