Sir Trevor Brooking and his team at The FA aim to use football to promote long term healthy, active lifestyles,
by encouraging children to play football to the best of their ability-ultimately with the goal of improving the standard of the game across the country.
The FA, with help from Tesco has recruited 66 Skills Coaches who will provide one million young people with the chance to play football.
The full time, professional coaches have undertaken a specialist coaching course to improve the football skills of 5-11 year olds.
The programme aims to help children develop better agility, balance and coordination, making them better at all sports, increase and develop their technical ability and help them create and develop meaningful relationships with other people.
The coaching can be delivered in Schools and Charter Standard Football Clubs where our Skills Team can leave coaching packs and resources for teachers and coaches.
We also run our own specialist Skill Centres, which are based county wide for intentional players looking to develop, skill, technique and understanding of the game.
Working in Partnership with the Hampshire CFA, are 6 Skills Coaches, covering the Hampshire region, who are specialists in football coaching and child development.
There is also a dedicated website that allows children to improve their football skills by receiving free guidance, drills and coaching videos ( www.thefa.com/skills )
